<p>The clocks have gone back, the nights are definitely drawing in and the temperature is plummeting. But that doesn’t mean our spirits can’t stay high through the winter. Here are some of our favourite ways to embrace the cosiness and coorie in.</p>

<p>Soft and comforting, is there anything nicer than being able to reach to the arm of your sofa and pull a beautiful warm blanket over your knees? We love the <a href="https://tbco.com/collections/wool-blankets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TBCo</a>’s lambswool blankets and throws. <p>Turn off the big light, dial down the dimmer switch and light some candles. We’re not suggesting you create full-blown gothic cathedral vibes in your own home (though if that’s your bag, you do you!), but the soft flicker of candlelight, particularly when it’s from a scented candle, makes the darkness feel cosy. <a href="https://scotland.muddystilettos.co.uk/home/scottish-scented-candles/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">There are loads we love all made here in Scotland</a>.</p>

<p>It’s jumper season. Shake your big jumpers and crack out your cashmere. <p>We know, we know – getting battered by the wind on a coastal walk isn’t the definition of cosy. <p>Once you’ve been blasted by the elements you deserve a hearty glass of red by a roaring fire. Honestly, if you’ve made it from the car park inside you deserve it. There’s nothing quite like finding a pub with a blazing log fire to settle down in front of. Kick off your boots, let your dog settle and get warm.</p>

<p>Cold weather calls for good solid puddings – ideally doused in custard. The kind that stick your insides together and leave you gently moaning but immensely satisfied. After all, you need the calories to keep warm! Glaswegian chef and TV presenter <a href="https://scotland.muddystilettos.co.uk/home/dining-at-home/glasgow-chef-and-tv-presenter-julie-lin-sticky-toffee-pudding-recipe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Julie Lin’s sticky toffee pudding recipe</a> is the business – with a slight Malaysian twist that makes it extra warming.</p>

<p>There’s a reason people in Finland are some of the happiest in the world and it’s very possibly sauna culture. Since we share a similar latitude, why not give it a try? Some of the best Scottish saunas are by the sea. Take a bracing coastal dook and then leg it inside to feel the benefits of the heat.</p>

<p>If the thought of jumping in the sea sends shivers down your spine, then skip the cold water treatment and run yourself a nice hot bath instead. Light those scented candles, get some chilled out music playing, add some gorgeous bath salts into the mix, lock the door and… relax.  </p>
